Gabriel Jacoby’s sound is a culmination of the unpredictable twists and turns of the 25 year old’s life so far, with the various unique experiences manifesting themselves into a funky, soulful, southern sound doused in emotion. He has walked many paths, and it is the breadth of these experiences that manifest into his distinctly authentic sound, character, and image, where he leaves all of his pain on the track, dousing alternative production in emotion and setting it on fire. By not only performing, but also playing various instruments, producing, mixing, and mastering, he effectively imprints a trace of himself on each dimension of his music. The South Carolina-born artist, producer, and poet applies articulate songcraft and deliberate emotion to his enigmatic and intersectional signature style, projecting robust vocals over an ever-evolving sonic palette of R&B, soul, and alternative laced with elements of hip-hop, folk, blues, and country. After moving to Tampa, FL, he picked up guitar, bass, and drums in addition to learning how to produce. A natural inclination for poetry progressed into rapping. During high school, he gained traction with “Mr. Poet” on Soundcloud, showcasing his lyricism and gathering streams in the hundreds of thousands. After eight months in jail, he properly showcased his voice on “reptile” in 2022. In the wake of “as you stand next to me,” Sheesh attested, “his potential for superstardom is undeniable,” and A1234 proclaimed, “From the darkness, we’re seeing a shining star emerge.” Touting “dreams,” Lyrical Lemonade predicted, “His ability to create narratives with his music and aesthetic will carve out a niche for him in this industry.” Under the influence of directors such as Akira Kurosawa, Quentin Tarantino, and Tim Burton, he even helmed the bulk of his videos as the director. Following co-signs from the likes of Shaboozey on top of growing buzz, he continues to break boundaries on a series of 2024 singles for PULSE Records and more to come.
