Timeless and yet indisputably fashionable, Hope Winter, the London based pop/soul singer songwriter, has the kind of voice – honeyed low, velvety rich in texture – that places her comfortably within a storied legion of female soul singers.
Raised in St Albans, Winter’s talent and exquisite storytelling is largely self-taught, developing her craft through YouTube tutorials and London’s live music scene after dropping out of music college in Kilburn. Despite having only four singles available to hear, Hope Winter has already built a loyal bricks-and-mortar fanbase. Her most recent track, ‘If You Ever Loved Me’, showcases Winter’s cinematic sound, that comes alongside an intimate stripped back live performance music video, shot at London’s historic Rivoli Ballroom. Hope’s understated genre-fusion freely combines sounds of pop, jazz and soul, pulling in odes of motifs from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway & Stevie Wonder, with more current inspirations including Cleo Sol to Remi Wolf. More recently, Hope was personally selected by GRAMMY and BRIT Award-winning artist Olivia Dean to perform at an exclusive evening at London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s. Spotlighted by British Vogue, Hope supported the global star alongside fellow artist Nectar Woode as part of an elegantly curated showcase; the closed door session attended by a stellar line up of guests including BAFTA winning actress Amy Lou Wood, and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Now, with a tetrad of tracks released, Hope has already displayed her thematic range, with singles ‘If You Ever Loved Me’, ‘Missing You’ as well as ‘Once In A While (In Love Again)’, previously featuring on BBC Introducing’s Track of The Week across several networks; investigating themes of grief and romance. Having racked up over 3 million streams already, with over 400k monthly listeners tuning in, the first steps Hope has made into the limelight have been measured and deliberate. With live shows and new music to come, Hope Winter’s star is only on the rise.
